REQUEST UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION (SCOTLAND) ACT 2002 (FOISA) 

Thank you for your request dated 28/05/2026 under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA). 

Your request 

Your request asked for all recorded information, including but not limited to policies, procedures, guidelines, codes of conduct, and dress codes, that reference or regulate the following: 

  • tattoos (visible or otherwise),
  • hair colour (including unnatural or brightly coloured hair), or
  • body modifications (including piercings, dermal anchors, and scarification)

 Our response

Following a search in mailboxes, eRDM and OneDrives, we did not find any recorded information relating to the key terms below:

“hair colour”,

“body modifications”,

“dermal anchors” and

“scarification”

For the terms “tattoos”, and “piercings”, there were three results relating to:

These are available on our website, and do not relate to internal codes of conducts or policies. 

As Civil Servants, we follow the the Civil Service code of conduct, which makes no reference to the above key terms.

We also mirror a number of Scottish and UK Government policies, for example, disciplinary procedures, delivering diversity and equality and code of conduct for Board members of public bodies. Again, none of which refer to the above key terms.
