Consumer Scotland has published its latest Newsletter.
The current edition of the Newsletter focuses on the findings and recommendations from our investigation into the impact on consumers of the transition to greener energy and better insulated homes.
In Scotland, converting how we heat our homes will be key to meeting our climate commitments and the Scottish Government’s forthcoming Heat in Buildings Bill is expected to set targets that will need over two million homes in Scotland to transition to low or zero-emissions heating over the next two decades.
Our investigation report provides clear, practical recommendations to help ensure consumers are empowered, protected and supported through every stage of the transition to net zero.
The Newsletter also highlights the range of actions we have taken over the past quarter to improve outcomes for consumers across the range of markets we cover including gas, electricity, heat networks, water and postal services and the wider economy.
Additional issues covered include:
- Reforms to the Royal Mail and the impact on consumers
- Rising energy debt at a time when prices are set to increase
- The advice gap facing consumers wanting to get the most out of their money
- Fairer pricing and clearer bills for heat network customers
- The latest on recall of goods
