Our partnership approach
Consumer Scotland works with other organisations with interests and expertise in consumer issues both in Scotland and across the devolved nations including formal strategic partnerships, collaborative working and management of grant funding arrangements.
Strategic partnerships
Consumer Scotland promotes collaboration and partnership working across Scotland’s consumer sector to deliver positive outcomes for consumers. This includes convening the Chief Executives Leadership Group and the Consumer Network for Scotland.
Grant funding
We use our strategic funding partnerships to support the delivery of a range of activities that deliver benefits to consumers including with Advice Direct Scotland, Citizens Advice Scotland, the Citizens Advice Scotland Extra Help Unit and Citizens Advice (England and Wales).
Our role ensures the work of consumer organisations is complementary, streamlined across Scotland, England and Wales and provides value for money.
Devolved nations
We collaborate with organisations across the devolved nations exploring shared challenges and opportunities for joint action where appropriate to improve outcomes for consumers.
This includes joint working with Citizens Advice (England and Wales), the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland and cross-sector regulators.
Sector partnerships
We have established a number of key sector partnerships to further our shared objectives.
This includes a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Energy Systems Operator to help ensure the design of future energy systems aligns with consumer behaviours.
We have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Water Industry Commission for Scotland and Scottish Water to ensure the views of consumers are central to decisions on the level of future water bills.
